Haris Rauf, a fast bowler for Pakistan, was named a goodwill ambassador by the Islamabad Police on Tuesday and was given the honorary rank of DSP. Haris Rauf praised the Islamabad police and IG Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan for recognising his contributions to Pakistan. He said that, I appreciate being their goodwill envoy, IG and Islamabad police.
Islamabad Police Appoints Haris Rauf As DSP
The police head in Islamabad concurred, saying it was an honour to have Rauf represent them. “We consider it an honour to appoint Haris as our envoy because he is from Islamabad. I have faith that he will present a positive picture of the police in Islamabad.
Haris Rauf gained notoriety after Lahore Qalandars of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) chose him in open tryouts. Haris Rauf used to participate in tape ball cricket in Rawalpindi. Haris Rauf was sponsored by the Lahore Qalandars, who used their player development programme to send him to Australia. After playing in the Big Bash League (BBL), he represented Pakistan in his first T20I match in 2020.
Haris Rauf soon established himself as the face of the Qalandars and co-led Pakistan’s batting squad with Shaheen Shah Afridi. He is currently Pakistan’s team’s primary spinner. Shaheen and Rauf both contributed significantly to Lahore Qalandars’ back-to-back PSL championship wins.
I’m genuinely delighted to be designated as an ambassador for goodwill of the Islamabad Police and an even greater honour to be able to put on this uniform as tribute to those who lay their lives in the line of duty, Haris Rauf wrote on Twitter as he expressed his excitement.
It is important to note that Naseem Shah, a quick bowler, was named the Balochistan Police’s Goodwill Ambassador in February of this year. Naseem Shah was designated as the “Honorary DSP” of the police by the Balochistan police. An event took place at the IG Balochistan Police Office in Quetta to mark the appointment, during which the pacer was officially dressed in a police uniform and installed into ranks.
Shaheen was named a goodwill ambassador by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police earlier in July of last year.
